We secured another thrilling victory, defeating Thame FC 5-2. Despite being four points clear at the top, the team did not let their guard down. The coach made some changes to the lineup due to suspensions, injuries, and unavailability . However, the squad showcased their depth by fielding a strong side.
The match started well for us as we took an early lead. Sami delivered a good ball to Josh, who found space out wide and confidently drove it home, opening his account for Hearts FC with his first goal. Just a minute later, the lead was doubled by Akeel, the team’s top goal scorer, who now has a tally of 18 goals.
Thame FC managed to pull one back, bringing the score to 2-1. However, we maintained control of the tempo by effectively spreading the play. Josh then doubled his tally just before halftime at the 44th minute, giving us a comfortable 3-1 lead at the break.
During halftime, the coach made some changes, bringing in Tee and Mansoor for Sina and Josh. The team extended their lead at the 50th minute with Mansoor scoring his first goal for us. Thame FC inadvertently contributed to the scoreline by putting the ball in their own net from a Mansoor cross. Thame FC managed to score again in the 60th minute, but we successfully managed the final 30 minutes of the game.
Good all round performance all over the pitch, defence was strong, midfield was resolute and attack was clinical.
Our attention turns to the Sheffield Jackman Cup, as we try to advance to the next round.
With our rivals having a cup game, we took advantage and now sit seven points clear at the top of the table. This time, all players arrived on time, making the preparations easier for the coach. The team will miss Sami, who will be away on holiday, but it was good to see Emilio, Ashley, Tee, and our captain, Luis, back in action. This will undoubtedly give the coach more options in terms of player selection.
