What a thrilling 4-0 away win to Steeple Claydon and Lugershall. After a disappointing Cup League defeat last week, we were determined to bounce back in this League Game. The anticipation was high as most of our players used to play for Lugershall, and they were eager to prove a point by winning.
The game started off evenly, with no clear indication of who would come out on top. However, in the 28th minute, our striker Akeel, who was on fire, scored the first goal, giving us the advantage. Steeple Claydon and Lugershall tried to play long balls to their striker, but our defense was solid and held them off.
Our midfielders also played a crucial role in supporting our defense, quickly winning back possession whenever we lost the ball. With a winning spirit, we were able to secure a second goal just before halftime from a penalty taken by Akeel, making the score 2-0 in our favor.
In the second half, our focus was on managing the game and keeping possession. This strategy worked exceptionally well, frustrating the opposition team and preventing them from breaking through our defense. Their striker became increasingly frustrated as they struggled to make any progress.
We had talented players on the bench who were ready to maintain the momentum. One of the substitutions, Sina, made an immediate impact by scoring shortly after coming on. Another substitution was made, bringing Junior onto the field after recovering from an injury sustained during pre-season. Junior was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty for us. Unfortunately, Junior missed the penalty, but Akeel was there to score the rebound, completing his hat trick.
After the final whistle blew, the team agreed that Akeel deserved the AJ Van Hire Man of the Match award for his outstanding performance and securing his first hat trick of the season. We are now focused on maintaining the same momentum as we prepare to face Rivets at home next week.
